Nasdaq: Union Workers Threaten Strike at Atlantic City Casinos

Atlantic City, N.J., could see its first casino strike in a dozen years this summer as workers who survived the recent shakeout seek new contracts with the casinos that survived.

Thousands of members of casino workers union, Unite Here Local 54, cast their ballots Thursday and the votes came in 96% in favor of authorizing a strike, according to union spokesman Ben Begleiter. The work stoppage will hit at the peak of the season in Atlantic City, starting July 1, said Bob McDevitt, president of the union.
