Governor Phil Murphy asks Unite Here Local 54 President Bob McDevitt to Advise on Re-Opening Tourism in the State

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has announced the formation of New Jersey’s Restart and Recovery Advisory Council, which will focus on both the immediate efforts to restart New Jersey’s economy and the long-term recovery. Governor Murphy has asked Unite Here Local 54 President Bob McDevitt to serve on the Council’s subcommittee for Tourism and Entertainment. The subcommittee held their first meeting on May 12 and will continue to meet to advise the Governor on restarting New Jerseys hospitality industry.

New Jersey is among the hardest hit states by the Coronavirus, with nearly 140,000 cases and over 9,000 reported deaths to the virus.  Unite Here Local 54 has over 10,000 members working in the hotel, gaming, and food service industries across New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
